October And November Wrap Up

Hello everybody! it has been awhile since I’ve actually sat down and wrote a blog post but I have been so busy work has basically taken over my life if I’m not working then I am doing college work. So today my class has been cancelled so i thought I’d catch up on a few things. The first one being my October wrap up in total i read three books which isn’t the greatest so I’m putting this months and last months wrap up together and there may be a little haul at the end.

The first book I read in October was Tower Of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas i gave this 3.5 stars. I honestly think I’m falling out of love with this series i loved the first book but after that i didn’t enjoy them as much as i thought i would. I personally think the story is getting dragged on too much and I’m honestly so confused. This book however is about Chaol what he was up to when Empire Of Storm was happening. I’m not going to give anything away as i don’t want to spoil it for everyone, bu it was just ok nothing honestly didn’t happen that surprised me.

The second book I read was Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough I gave this 4.5 stars it was amazing. When I finished i actually couldn’t get over what i just read which i love when it does happen. I don’t even know how to describe this book but here we go…. her son is everything for Louise he is her world. When she meets David she is shocked that he likes her. Then Adele comes in the picture Davids wife, Louise slowly gets to know her she starts to wonder if their marriage is as perfect as it seems. David i didn’t like him in the start but when we got to the end i actually felt sorry for him that’s all I’m going to say.

The last book I read in October was The Sister by Louise Jensen I ended up giving this one 3 stars. This one to me was a good read but it wasn’t gripping to me it didn’t have an amazing plot twist either because I guessed it towards the end. Since Charlie’s death Grace hasn’t been the same, a girl comes forward claiming she is Charlie’s sister Grace thinks that her world is sorted that she can finally start rebuilding her life. Dan Grace’s boyfriend is acting mysteriously with Anna’s presence. This was actually a sad read when I think about it now, i was just expecting something a bit more.

Now onto my November wrap up. The first book is I let You Go by Clare Mackintosh I gave this 3.4 stars. The twist or twists I should say were really good I do have to admit that, i actually gasp with the first one. Just when she was starting to feel like she could be happy Jenna’s past catch’s up with her, one night her life is changed forever. Domestic abuse and bullying is in this book towards the end when everything was unraveling i actually couldn’t put the book down.

A dead body is found on the Orient Express. They are all alone as the train is stopped by snow, detective Hercule Poiret must find the killer before they strike again.

Then lastly I bought The Crow Girl by Erik Axl Sund this is and Scandinavian novel. This book has three books in it it’s why it is over 750 pages, it is also Waterstones thriller of the month for November 2017. One body is found, detective Superintendent Jeanette Kihlberg wants to find out who the killer is. Two more bodies are found Jeanette knows she is looking for a serial killer. With the help of psychotherapist Sofia Zetterlund can they solve the mystery before they strike again.

August Wrap Up

This month has been really weird with my reading as I wouldn’t have read anything in a couple of days then i would just read a whole book in a few day. In total i have read 5 really good books, i do have reviews up for most of these books if you want to check more out.

The first book I read in August is The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer giving it 4 stars. I was really excited to read this book as it has romance and a new love of mine which is a mystery. I liked that Alex was smart with the way she did things she didn’t go in blind using her past as working in a lab was an advantage no one else had. Overall this was a really good read that I wasn’t disappointed.

She used to be an expert now she is running for her life. She is offered a way out one that’ll give her, her life back, what she didn’t expect was falling in love with the man she was sent to kill.

One Us Is Lying by Karen M.McManus is the second book I have given 5 stars to. This book was incredible I can’t put into words how much I loved it. We have a range of characters who have their own issues to deal with but I liked how they all came together.

Five student walk into detention. Only four walk out alive. Bronwyn, Cooper, Nate and Addy are all under investigation. The question is who wanted to keep their secret hidden the most.

Review: One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch is the third book which I gave 4 stars. I was in a mood for a romance and this one definitely did that for me. A review will be up for this one so I’m not going to say too much but the review is going to be a spoiler as I have far too much to say. Basically I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner but if you haven’t read this book yet then i would highly recommend it to you.

Before Lina mother died she said she wanted her to go to Tuscany to meet her father. So that is what she is doing Lina is spending the summer in the cemetery with Harold. A journal is given to her one of her mothers as she is reading it sends her on an adventure. With the help of Ren, Lina figures out why her mum wanted her to go Tuscany.

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid is the fourth book I’ve read this month. I am surprised I liked this as much as i did as it’s a sci-fi which i don’t usually pick up, i think if there wasn’t any romance in it them i would have probably not have enjoyed it that much. I’m defiantly going to carry on with this series as i want to know what happens to Tyrus and Nemesis and to see where the plot is going.

Sidonia is summoned by the Emperor, Nemesis takes her place. As a diabolical it’s her duty to protect her at any cost. Can Nemesis survive in a world where she is impersonating Sidonia, a world where a family despise each other and finally where there is revenge. Nemesis and Tyrus team together to get what they both want.

The final book I read this month is The Secret Speech by Tom Rob Smith giving it 4 stars. This series just keeps getting better and better for me i really enjoyed the first book Child 44 but The Secret Speech was just amazing. This book has everything in a mystery, family issues, kidnapping, revenge and betrayal.

Leo Demidov is trying to rebuild his past. Will the past let him? A wave of murders are happening all which Leo is trying to solve. His family is in trouble he would do anything for them even if that means going to the place where he sent all those innocent people.

July Wrap Up

July is over with it was a busy month for me as it was my birthday and I have just been busy with my friends. Overall i could have done better with the amount of books I’ve read but 4 I’m happy with.

The first book I read in July was Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith I gave this 4 stars. This is the first book in the Leo Demidov series I enjoyed this book so much I have already bought the second and third book in the series. It surrounds Leo and his family, he is a security officer he thought he had it all a good job, a good house and a beautiful wife but it turns out everything he thought he knew was a lie. His work is accusing his wife Raisa of being a spy Leo must decide whether he will stick with his wife or if he will turn her in. Children are being murdered Leo must solve these murders even though he no longer has a home or a job people won’t even listen to him. I can’t put into words how much I enjoyed this book everything about it will just lock you in and you won’t be able to stop. This book took me over a week to read I took it slowly as i didn’t want it to end but the ending was brilliant. If you haven’t already read this book then i would highly recommend it to you. Goodreads Link.

Library Of Souls by Ransom Riggs is the third and final book in the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series, I gave this book 3.5 stars. This continues straight after Hollow City where Miss Peregrine and the rest of the children are taken. This whole book narrows down to one point that is to save them, with Emma Bloom and Addison MacHenry Jacob must delve deep into his power to save them. For me this book was good I did enjoy it I think the reason why I like this book also the series so much is the photos it helped me build the world in my mind. I don’t know why but this book took me ages to read i don’t know whether it was because i was eager to move on from reading this as i wanted to read another book. Overall i did enjoy it i felt satisfied with the ending i don’t know why but the last couple of chapters were my favorite out of the whole book. Goodreads Link.

The third book I’ve read this month is Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard, giving this 4 stars. I didn’t think I would enjoy this book as much as I did as it’s not a fantasy or a romance it’s a book all about friendship and the bond you have with someone. Suzanne is a new girl from Rosie’s school soon Suzanne meets Rosie’s best friend Caddy. Suzanne has had a rough up bringing when Caddy learns this she starts to get to know Suzanne more watching her closely. I’m not going to go into great detail with this one as I am going to have a review up soon.  Goodreads link.

Why didn’t I think I would enjoy this book is beyond me as I loved The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon giving this 4 stars. The whole plot for this book was really unique to me as i haven’t read anything with the whole asking questions to each other than staring at each other for 4 minutes concept, which i enjoyed. Natasha and Daniel are two totally different people one of them believes in fate the other one doesn’t. Natasha is being deported back to Jamaica, Daniel is doing what his parents want him to. Both of them have got problems some bigger than the other but they both realize they need to stand up. Overall this was an enjoyable quick read and i would highly recommend it. Goodreads Link.

June Wrap Up

June is over with how are we half way through the year already it’s crazy. June for reading was a really good month I read 6 books in total as I have finished college I’ve got a lot more spare time to read.

Hunted by Paul Finch has been on my tbr for so long now that I am actually kicking myself for it. This was a 4 star read for me also it’s my first thriller that I have actually read. This book follows our main character Heck who is on a mission to solve a group of ‘accidental’ deaths. It later turns out though that these cases aren’t what they seem to be when looked closely at. Hunted is part of a series but I haven’t read any of the other books before this one and i had no issue keeping up with everything. Goodreads link.

See How They Lie by Sue Wallman is my second read this month. This book is also a thriller about a girl called Mae who lives at the Hummingbird Creek. Where everything isn’t what they seem to be, after a phone call Mae answers she later questions everything she was ever taught. I have to say this book was really good I did enjoy it, the ending did save it for me though. If you are looking for a quick enjoyable read then I would recommend it to you. Goodreads Link.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas this is my third book I’ve read this month. Now I won’t go into too much detail with this one as I am going to be writing a review for this one. All I am going to say is wow this book is just incredible the writing, the plot really draws you in. I gave THUG 4.5 stars i loved it that much. Goodreads link.

The fourth book I have read in June is The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan giving it 4 stars. This is a historical, YA, romance read which I thoroughly enjoyed. This book is about a girl called Marnie who marries a lord called Isake to save her family from being home less. However they are only married for two days when Marnie returns home and discovers Isake dead. When everybody is accusing her of murder only two people will help her that is the village priest and the village lunatic.  This book is one of those that i wouldn’t have picked up if my friend didn’t give it to me i am so glad he did. The village lunatic Raven is deaf he can’t hear what people are saying to him somehow Marnie and Raven build a bond that nobody understands. As the village don’t understand they accuse Marnie of witchcraft. There is a paragraph in the author’s notes that sum this book up perfectly, “This tale belongs at any time, even our own; it is about prejudice and ignorance, and a young women wrongly accused, who is guilty of only one thing-the unforgivable crime of being different.” Goodreads link.

IMG_0718.JPGLyrebird by Cecelia Ahern is a 4 star read for me, it is a beautifully written book that I just devoured. It all surrounds this women called Laura but later on is nicknamed Lyrebird as she has a very unique talent where she can copy sounds. She has been a secret all her life so when she is stumbled upon in the forest Laura doesn’t expect her whole life to change. I’d highly recommend you to read this book if you have a chance because it is just amazing. Goodreads link.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare in the first book in The Dark Artifices series. I gave this one 4 stars I am surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this book. There are murders happening they are being killed the same way as Emma parents were. Emma and Julian are both on a mission can Emma solve the murders and can Julian get his brother back. This book leads straight after the Cold War Mark is still sent away and Helen is still exiled. There is so much happening everybody is going through something we also meet some new people but we also get to see a few familiar faces. Goodreads link.

May Wrap Up

May was actually a really good reading month for me. May was the month that A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J. Mass was released after reading this I honestly thought I would be in a massive reading slump after wards but i wasn’t.

The first book I read this month is A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J. Maas I gave this one 5 stars. This book is the most anticipated book release this year for me i have been desperate to get my hands on it. Feyre is back at the Spring Court it isn’t for love though it’s for revenge. War is coming, they must find allies to survive but can they put the things from the past behind them to do so. I couldn’t read this book quick enough it was so fast paced, Nesta and Elain character development was incredible. If you haven’t picked up this series yet then i would highly recommend it Goodreads link.

Mutual feelings by Billy Taylor is a book my friend let me borrow it after she really enjoyed it. I gave this book 3.5 stars I won’t go in too much detail as there will be a review up at some point. All I’m going to say is that is was predictable but I did still enjoyed it. Goodreads link.

The third book I read is Miss Peregrines Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I don’t know why this book has been sitting on my shelf for so long I gave this book 3.5 stars almost 4 i really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting but i really enjoyed the photos that was a great touch to the whole experience of reading this book. Goodreads link.

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs is the fourth book I have read this month overall I gave this 3 stars. This follows straight from the first one where the group is trying to save Miss Peregrine. I was reading reviews for this book before i picked it up and ‘this book was amazing’, ‘this book is the second, third time i have read this book’. In all honestly i didn’t think it was amazing and i don’t think i will re read this book either. I did enjoy it though as i did want to know if they could save Miss Peregrine also we meet some new characters just like the others they are peculiar. Goodreads link.

Then this month I have read City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. I am so happy i have finished The Mortal Instruments series, i gave this book 4 stars which is the highest i think i have given any of the books in this series. I am surprised at how much i liked it i was expecting it to be really boring and i would end up putting it down but I’m really happy i kept reading it. Goodreads link.

Hello everybody I thought this month I would tell you guys how my month was, what i got up to , some of my favorites and of course the books i have read this month to change things a little.

I’ve finally finished The Lunar Chronicles series *dances around* I don’t why I was putting this book off so much. Winter is amazing the perfect ending for me for this series overall I gave this book 4 stars. We have an amazing set of characters each one has a separate story to tell and each one is strong. The plot is amazing you don’t get lost in what is happening which is a good thing. I am sad to have finally finish this series i need more! if you haven’t read this series yet then you should if you are looking for a good set of characters, sci-fi and romance.

Billy and Me by Giovanna fletcher I gave this 3.5 stars, I have had my eye on this book for ages now and my sister finally let me borrow it, this is my second read from Giovanna which i am going to pick up more from her. This is about Sophie she lives in a village and works in the local cafe she is happy there but then walks in Billy. Billy is an actor he’s charming and sweet. Soon Billy and Sophie get together with that Sophie must learn to trust Billy, to trust herself that she is doing the right thing. This book there were moments which were good but then there were moments where Sophie didn’t have to act the way she did. If you are looking for a quick read, like romance then i would recommend this one for you.

I have finally read The Catcher In The Rye by J.D.Salinger overall I gave this book 3.5 stars. I don’t even know how to explain what I have just read. It all surrounds Holden who has been kicked out of school but this wasn’t his first time. He meets up with people but he is just killing time before he has to face his parents. Holden has a really good relationship with his sister Phoebe I enjoyed reading their scenes together. Overall i did enjoy this book a lot more than i was expecting as i have tried to read this book a few times.

Getting prepared for the release of A Court Of Wings And Ruin I re read the first book in the series. I gave this 5 stars again as I just love it. Did I enjoy it as much as the first time? no because i was waiting for Rhysand to arrive also i knew how much Tamlin is going to change.

This month for me was okay I was in a slump for most if it with everything college course work, also my blog which is why I haven’t posted much this month which is a shame. Hopefully May will be a better month with everything as it is going to be a good one with the things that i have planned.

My favorites this month are:

Music- Bruises by Lewis Capaldi

Waves by Dean Lewis this is song has been on repeat!!

Thank you for reading, feel free to leave a comment down below.

How was your month?

Do you have anything fun planned for next month?

March Wrap Up

As if it is already the end of March time is going so fast, anyway this month has been a good month overall I have kept on track with my reading challenge which is a good thing and i am almost done with college work.

Crooked Kingdoms by Leigh Bardugo I gave this 4 stars. I can’t put into words how much I loved this book, the characters, the plot and the action is like nothing I have read before. Everything i so thought out Kaz has to be the smartest character there is out there, he knows what must be done to get what he wants. This book continues straight after the first book so i won’t spoil it for you but you have to read Six of Crows. Continue reading “March Wrap Up”
